The Danish student loan is by many considered as the best loan because of the low interest rate it has. It is though still a loan; money you borrow, money you don’t have, money you have to pay back. As the student loan is typically the first loan a Danish citizen is confronted with, the facts and consequences of taking the loan must be explained in an easily understandable way. I designed an interactive mobile app giving students visual information about their future loan. Using sliders the student selects the amount she wants to borrow and for how many months. She receives live feedback on how much the interest rate adds to her loan. Afterwards, the app shows her how much time she has to pay back the loan, and the amount she minimum has to pay back each month. She can also tap on chosen elements to get a further explanation of what the words mean, for example what an interest rate is.
